History
We began as Oregon Steel Mills Credit Union in 1952 with assets of $2,000.00. In 1978, we changed our name to Rivergate Federal Credit Union and enlarged our field of membership to encompass the entire Rivergate Industrial Park. The Credit Union now also offers membership to all people living or working in the St. John’s area of Portland.
Philosophy
Not for Profit, Not for Charity, but for Service. Our Credit Union is dedicated to the idea that we are here to improve the financial well-being of the members lives. That means we do not operate with the intention of making a profit, rather, to aid our members in creating financial “well-being”.
What bank can say that improving the customer’s well-being is a part of their mission statement?
MEMBERSHIP
Members ARE NOT CUSTOMERS, they are OWNERS. When you open your required $25.00 share account, you become an owner of one share in the cooperative. In order to qualify for membership in Rivergate Federal Credit Union, you must work for a business located in the Rivergate Industrial Park or work or reside in the St. John’s area of Portland, Or.
Once you are a member, members of your immediate family may also join!
